First: Anyone can play and become good, in theory that should be the same for sports but it isn't. In most sports you see specific physical traits that are giving players advantages so that players who don't have them can't compete on the same level. In eSports you can change the game to whatever you want it to be, if there's a problem you can fix it, if there's a more awesome and entertaining way to lay the game you can change it. Third: Gaming itself has become extremely popular, more popular than movies or music so even if only a fraction of people who play games are into eSports that's still a big market just because the original mass of people is so big.
