Players assume the role of Gordon Freeman, a scientist who must find his way out of the Black Mesa Research Facility after it is invaded by aliens. The core gameplay consists of fighting alien and human enemies with a variety of weapons and solving puzzles.
Mario debuted as "Jumpman" in the arcade game Donkey Kong on July 9, 1981. He is shown to be a carpenter and has a pet ape named Donkey Kong. The carpenter mistreats the ape, who then escapes to kidnap Jumpman's girlfriend, originally known as 'the Lady' (later named Pauline).
